Dear Friends and Colleagues,
This is the kind of message I always prefer not to write.
It just came to our knowledge of the departure of Janine Bertrand, last October 18th, 2021, in Paris. We remember Janine has one intense person, a passionate film society and cultural manager that had a major importance in the French culture and cinema.
Janine was for many years President of Inter Film – Unión Nacionale Inter Ciné-Clubs, our associate member the French Federation of Film Societies, which was founded back in 1960. In representation of the Federation, Janine Bertrand was one active member of the Executive Committee, and had important role in the definition of some projects like the FICC Network Discoveries” (distribution of Don Quijote awarded films), among others. Her cooperation and intense work was a mark during her period in the IFFS. She was a regular presence at the General Assemblies and Festival of Film Societies (held in Italy, Reggio Calabria, Pizzo Calabro and Matera – 2006), together with her life companion Guy Bertrand.
We will keep in memory her strong presence and legacy.
The Executive Committee will publish a public note and will send a message to Guy Bertrand, the family and the French Federation.
